Good news for Turnpike fans and Apple Music users.
Today, the Turnpike Troubadours surprise dropped the Nashville Sessions, featuring three total tracks, exclusively to Apple Music.
The sessions include a new rendition of the popular “Good Lord Lorrie,” as well as “Mean Old Sun” from the band’s most recent album, A Cat In The Rain, and a cover of John Prine’s “Paradise.”
While the arrangement and production on the new renditions of their previous cuts doesn’t necessarily offer anything new, the John Prine cover is clearly what stands out here.
Written solely by Prine, Paradise was released on his self-titled debut album in 1971 and later re-recorded for his 1986 record, German Afternoons.
Turnpike has performed Paradise live on multiple occasions, most notably with Tyler Childers back in July at the Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island. While fans now finally have a version to listen to on streaming platforms (well, Apple Music that is), a collaboration with Childers could’ve broke the internet again. You know, in similar fashion as to when the band announced new music after a six year hiatus last year.
