Wyatt Flores is one of the most exciting young singer-songwriters in the country music scene these days, developing quite the following over the course of the past year in particular.
The 22 year old has a specific authenticity that is uncommon in artists of his age, putting out music that really feels honest and representative of his Oklahoma roots.
Like many young artists these day, Flores has been known to post cover videos every so often, notably presenting versions of notable tunes from the likes of Jason Isbell, Turnpike Troubadours, and most recently, The Fray.
Over a year ago, Flores released a video performance of Russell County Line by one of the most underrated independent country bands, 49 Winchester. By the way, if you haven’t heard their original version, do yourself a favor and check it out- it’s an incredible tune that really shows off their unique, Southern-Appalachian style.
Everything works well with Flores’ rendition- the sound, the location, everything. He performs it sitting atop mountain, perfectly capturing the the atmosphere that the tune describes. Flores truly makes you feel like he is actually there at the titular Russell County Line in Virginia.
Despite the gorgeous view in the background, Flores’ exceptional talent shines right through the screen and his distinct style is conveyed with ease. A studio version of this cover wouldn’t be a bad idea for the rising singer/songwriter.
