An unexpected crossover.
Tonight during her sold-out show at Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville, Tennessee, pop star Tate McRae treated fans to hits such as “greedy,” “run for the hills” and “10:35.” It seemed as if it was going to be a pretty standard concert for the 21-year-old singer. That was until McRae took a break in-between songs to note how much she loves country music, “I, myself, am a huge fan of country music.”
At this point, the minds in the crowd were probably racing wondering who could pop up for a performance given that she was in the Mecca of country music. Just moments later, McRae revealed that it was none other than Megan Moroney, “I’m so f*cking excited to sing with the one and only Megan Moroney.”
Moroney, holding her patented bedazzled guitar, walked out on stage before the pair delivered a killer performance of the “I’m Not Pretty” singer’s certified-platinum hit, “Tennessee Orange.”
Though the appearance was most likely a surprise for many, eagle-eyed fans of McRae caught that she and Moroney had something special up their sleeve tonight when McRae posted a photo of Moroney’s guitar on her Instagram story hours before the show began.
Ironically, this wasn’t the first time a major pop star had a crossover with one of today’s biggest country stars given that Olivia Rodrigo recently brought out Tyler Childers to perform his hit, “All Your’n” back in July at her show in Lexington. While it seems like a coincidence that two of the biggest pop stars brought out major country acts at their shows recently, I, for one, am here for it.
