Just last week, Flatland Cavalry announced they had a new song coming out this month at a show in Columbus, Ohio, while celebrating frontman, Cleto Cordero’s 31st birthday. Fast forward to today and the band officially announced the song, “Last American Summer,” will be out everywhere next Friday, June 30th.
Flatland Cavalry has recently been out on the road with Luke Combs on his massive stadium tour and the momentum is just gettin’ goin’ for these boys. They are hands down one of my favorite Country acts in the genre right now and have been for some time.
In their Instagram announcement video, Cleto gives a little backstory of the new song; “A few years ago I was sittin’ and hangin’ out in Oklahoma ’cause we weren’t allowed to tour for obvious reasons. I was sitting in my mother-in-laws backyard where I was hangin’ out and I made a little garden. I was sittin’ there chillin’ in a little chair and the words floated above the garden, it said last American summer and i was like ‘man, that sounds like a song title.'”
While we wait until next Friday, check out “Missing You” and “Traveler’s Song” below.
