Jason Aldean’s latest single, “Try That In A Small Town” has had critics and social media warriors (mostly those who just hate his music or disagree with his politics) attacking the artist for being “pro-lynching” and “racist.”
Just an hour ago, Jason Aldean released a statement addressing the allegations, calling them “meritless” and “dangerous,” as well as saying “there’s not a single lyric in the song that references race.”
In the past 24 hours I have been accused of releasing a pro-lynching song (a song that has been out since May) and was subject to the comparison that I (direct quote) was not too pleased with the nationwide BLM protests. These references are not only meritless, but dangerous.…

According to Billboard, CMT has officially pulled the music video from their rotation where it has been being played in the morning video hours since July 14th. As of this moment, CMT has not given a reason for their decision and Aldean’s lengthy statement did not address CMT directly.
Written by Kelly Lovelace, Neil Thrasher, Tully Kennedy & Kurt Allison, the song, according to Aldean, “refers to the feeling of a community that I had growing up, where we took care of our neighbors, regardless of differences of background or belief. Because they were our neighbors, and that was above any differences.“
