Adding to the highly successful, I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell, Chase Rice is back with an emotional addition to the album, For A Day. The song, dedicated to his late father, now becomes the 14th and final track on the album.
Earlier in the day, Rice shared the powerful video on Instagram and TikTok signaling the track’s release.
Rice penned a powerful tribute in the caption of the post.
“15 years ago today I lost my dad. I had no idea then what kind of impact that would have on me. It wrecked me for 10 years without me even fully knowing it. This album has been a healing process for me that I’m grateful for. He never got to see me play live. Dad this one’s for you, and anybody out there who would give anything for just one more day.”
For A Day is a low-fi track that truly feels as raw as a song can possibly be. Only Rice and his guitar are present throughout the song, making the listener feel like they are right next to him in the room he recorded it in. The struggle to sing the later lyrics simply adds to the heartbreak and emotion already present in the song.
Throughout the track, he recalls all the memories shared with his father and begs for just one more day with him. In the chorus, he sings,
“I’ll trade every my Chevrolet, every dollar made, and every song I’ve ever made for a day.”
