Today, Craig Morgan announced he’s releasing a new EP next month titled, “Enlisted,” featuring some of the biggest names in Country music right now.
The 6-track EP, set to drop on October 20th, will feature two brand new songs, one featuring Luke Combs and one with Trace Adkins, while the other four will be re-imagined versions of his older hits including his 2005 #1 song, “That’s What I Love About Sunday,” as well as “Redneck Yacht Club.”
Morgan recently told Billboard that after he recorded his collaboration with Luke on “Raise The Bar,” his management suggested he re-make Redneck Yacht Club with another artist since it was such a fan favorite.
“I thought, ‘Well, we just did this collaboration with Luke, so it makes sense to do a duets project.'”
The artist he chose to feature on the new version of Redneck Yacht Club? None other than Blake Shelton. Not only have the two been friends for years, but Blake was originally featured in the music video that was released 18 years ago so it only seemed fitting to make it a full circle moment on this record.
Shelton recently had this to say about Craig and the upcoming collaboration:
“Craig and I have been friends for many years. I’m a fan of his music and admire him as a human… I’m thrilled he asked me to sing with him on ‘Redneck Yacht Club.”
Lainey Wilson will also be featured on the re-imagined version of “Internal Harvester,” something she says she is “honored” to be apart of:
“I remember the first time I ever heard ‘International Harvester’ and the feeling I got knowing that there was music being written that felt like it was made just for me. I come from a family of farmers, so it’s really a full circle moment to be on this track alongside my good friend Craig.”
Just last year, Morgan and Jelly Roll shared the stage at the Grand Ole Opry to perform Morgan’s 2002 single, “Almost Home.” Now that they’ve officially teamed up to release a studio version together, Jelly Roll recently told Billboard how much the song means to him:
“I had got released from jail and it would end up being the last time I was ever in jail, which I am super proud of. And I came here because Craig Morgan had ‘Almost Home,’ and I would listen to it in my jail cell. My cell mates and I used to compare [that song’s story] to jail. You know, like in this horrible circumstance, but kind of mentally, you can always be almost home.’”
