It’s the way he didn’t even hesitate for me.
First off, let me start by saying no details were given here, or else I’m not sure that I’d be covering it. With that said, If I had a list of 30 country singers, maybe even 20, hell, just even TWO, to choose from for whom I’d think would’ve been the most likely to admit this, I would’ve picked ol’ Hootie last almost every time.
Back in June, Darius Rucker stopped by 100.7 The Tiger, a local country radio station out in Louisiana, and sat down with Brittany Rose, host of Off The Record, and let’s just say, well…not everything was kept off the record.
In a clip posted to their TikTok account, Rucker chooses a random written question from a paper stack and reads it aloud; “Have you ever hooked with a fan?” He immediately answers:
“Of course. If somebody says no, they’re lying.”
You can hear the entire crew begin to laugh following Darius’ undaunted honesty. I mean, the guy was the frontman of one of the most successful pop/rock bands in the mid 90’s and didn’t marry his wife of 20 years until 2000.
Although it can be viewed as a little weird to ask those types of questions in interviews, I’ve seen it happen a dozen times. While most just laugh and brush over it (or basically give it away from their body language instead of their words), Darius just happened to be completely blunt.
