ERNEST Admits He Once Called Poison Control On Himself, Tells Hilarious Story On Theo Von’s Podcast [Watch]

On a recent appearance on Theo Von’s podcast, This Past Weekend, ERNEST told a wild story of the time he had to call poison control…on himself.

ERNEST was sitting alongside Jelly Roll, who was also featured on the podcast. The three laughed hysterically as the Flower Shops singer explained his ridiculous experience.

About two years ago, he was getting ready to perform at a venue in Nashville and was feeling a bit sluggish, so he decided to get some caffeine pills at the gas station. Taking them back to the green room, he took the wrong amount of pills and seemingly felt the effects pretty quickly. ERNEST tells the group:

“I took the four pills and then read the package… and it was like you’re supposed to just take one of these.”

Anyone can relate to that stomach-churning feeling you get when a small moment of ignorance leads to significant consequences. You can totally feel the panic in his voice knowing he had made a major mistake. He continues:

“I go back to the bathroom, make myself throw up, and like one empty capsule came out… I was like boy I’m starting to get antsy and obviously anxious about the whole scenario.”

It’s safe to say ERNEST’s mind was not too focused on his obligation to perform that night. His course of action following the bathroom situation is what truly makes this affair, while unnerving for him, humorous for us.

“I call Poison Control- I was like no brainer, I’m gonna see what they got to say. I was like hey man I took four of these caffeine pills, I’m feeling pretty uncomfortable right now and I’m sweating, it kind of hurts.”

Obviously calling Poison Control is very a serious thing, and it’s not something you ever wish to do. That being said, calling it on yourself for taking too much caffeine is a tough pill to swallow, no pun intended. It might’ve been the responsible thing to do, but that doesn’t make it any less funny. ERNEST then tells how the call went:

“He’s like ‘oh man like yeah that’s a lot of caffeine…. if you’re in pretty good shape you should be alright’. I was like (anxiously), oh, alright, thank you and hung up. I was like f***, I’m not in that good of shape.”

ERNEST notes about fifty pounds heavier than his current weight and admits he was not in shape, so you can imagine the added stress in that moment. The three continue to laugh about general idea of someone casually calling Poison Control the same way they casually call a friend or family member.. ERNEST jokes:

“I’m standing outside the venue kicking it, somebody probably just assumes I’m talking to my mom or something. I’m over there like am I gonna die in a minute?”

Despite the comical, yet nightmarish scenario, ERNEST obviously ended up being alright in the end. He notes that it took some rest and eventually it wore off, but it is something he’ll never forget- I don’t think anyone would forget calling Poison Control on themselves.
