“This EP represents who I am and where I’m from.” the Idol alum shared in an Instagram post celebrating the EP’s release.

It’s been less than six months since Colin Stough was named ‘second-runner-up’ of the hit show’s 21st season, but the Mississippi-native is already well on his way to a successful career. On Friday, he dropped his first multi-song project, a six song EP titled “Promiseland.” Stough first announced the project to fans last month, following the release of his latest single “Lonely Hour.” Along with the title track and recent single, Stough also shared four brand-new songs.

Stough played a role in co-writing 5 of the 6 tracks, and worked with some incredibly respected names in the industry to produce this EP. Charles Kelley of Lady A joined Stough to co-write “If Not For Me,” while singer-songwriter Ryan Waters helped pen “Lonely Hour.” Songwriter and producer Austin Shawn and Gavin Lucas, who frequently work with Bailey Zimmerman and Chase Matthew, were apart of the project as well.

One of the highlights of the EP is without a doubt the third track, titled “‘Til The Day One Does.” It’s a perfect example of the Southern rock-tinged country sound that comes so easily to Stough.

Calling the track “a badass song” and “wild as hell,” Stough explains that he wrote the song about his lifestyle and his experience growing up. He says it’s also a reminder that “there’s ability to change and kind of slow down the movement of your life.” “I think it’s something we all go through and we all have to do” Stough shared in a video to fans.

While it’s not technically brand new, “Lonely Hour” is another must-listen on this EP. Co-written with Ryan Waters of the Ryan Waters Band, the track is an unexpectedly deep cut, and is a testament to the maturity of Colin Stough as an artist. (And even more impressive given that he’s only nineteen.) “I personally feel like everybody goes through that dark moment in life where they just feel alone all the time” Stough stated, telling the story behind the song.
