On Tuesday Hardy took to Instagram to make some announcements regarding his upcoming music. He revealed that he will be releasing a new single this Friday titled “Rockstar,” as well as dropping a full rock album sometime before his “QUIT!!” tour kicks off in May.
Hardy also confirmed that “Rockstar” will be on the new record, which feels fitting given the apparent subject matter. The new single comes less than a month after his previous surprise release “QUIT!!” earlier this year.
Along with the announcement, Hardy shared what appears to be the album art for the new single, which features himself posing as several iconic rockers through the years.
The “Wait In The Truck” singer has toed the line between country and rock for a while, and he seems to be heading more that way all the time. His last album, the mockingbird and THE CROW, was a half country, half rock record that allowed him to explore the similarities between the genres and blurred the line between the two.
His concerts have long been known to have more of a rock energy, as evidenced by appearances on stage with the likes of Nickelback and Chris Daughtry. This will be the first fully rock record from the 33 year old.
He didn’t give an exact release date for the album, but he did mention it will be in time for his upcoming tour, which is set to start in Rogers, Arkansas on May 30th. He will be joined on the tour by Kip Moore, Travis Denning, Ella Langley, and Stephen Wilson Jr.
