Morgan got jokes.
Unless you haven’t been online the past couple of days, there’s an extremely good chance that you’ve seen clips surfacing of Bailey Zimmerman’s set from Luke Bryan’s Crash My Playa festival over the weekend in Cancún, Mexico.
To say that the “Religiously” singer’s set was less than ideal would be an understatement. Clearly too drunk to properly perform, Zimmerman stumbled his way through his set and sounded, well, awful.
At one point, the 24-year-old singer screamed into the mic before delivering what can only be described as a speech from that one friend you know that goes way too hard during the pregame, “If this duck was water, I would swim my way down, and I’d drink my way up. But I’m not a f*cking duck, and this ain’t no water, baby. So let’s f*ck around and get f*cked up.”
Following some backlash, Zimmerman took to Instagram yesterday to issue an apology to the fans. In the video, he said, “I was always raised to hit my problems head on and never lie and always be truthful and honest, even when you’re embarrassed… What happened was I decided to drink that day, which was an awful mistake. I got up on stage, and I was too drunk to play. I sang awful; I played awful. Nobody got the show that they wanted or paid for. I’m disappointed in myself.”
He also added, “If you’ve been to my shows, you know how much I’ve talked about God since day one. And it was an awful representation of that. To anybody that’s embarassed of me, I’m there. I’m embarassed as well. I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure that this never happens ever again. I want to show you guys the person I am.”
Zimmerman finished the apology by thanking the fans for showing him love and sticking with him before asking for forgiveness one last time.
The day after the “Rock and a Hard Place” singer posted the apology, Morgan Wallen commented on the post with a little dry humor, saying, “I thought you sounded great.”
Zimmerman, who has toured extensively with Wallen and credits him for developing his live shows, replied back, “for sure not my best bub.”
