There’s no doubt that John Michael Montgomery’s “Love The Way You Love Me” is a staple of ’90s country. The tender ballad became his first career chart-topper before winning Song of the Year at the 29th ACM Awards.
31 years after its release, none other than Montgomery’s son, Walker, released a cover of his father’s classic, and it’s a damn good one.
Walker, who has been releasing music since 2018, has found success on his own with tracks such as “She Don’t Know,” “Bad Day To Be A Beer” and “Out of Nowhere” reaching over a million streams a piece on Spotify alone.
Montgomery took to Instagram to announce the song’s release on September 3rd.
Upon the song’s announcement, many were quick to point out just how much Walker sounds like his father, with comments saying, “You sound a lot like your dad,” “Dude you killed it. Sound just like your old man. He’s very proud I’m sure.” and “You sound just like your daddy. This is amazing!”
And those comments are spot on. It’s quite incredible just how similar the father and son’s voices are. Not only is it a fantastic cover, but it serves as a touching tribute between a father and son who have both made a career in the genre.
