Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd have officially come to a settlement agreement.
After filing for divorce from her husband of five years back in October, Maren Morris has agreed to split custody with their son, Hayes Andrew, and will be responsible for paying Hurd $2,100 a month in child support.
Although the two came to an agreement at the end of December, a judge still has to sign off before the divorce can be finalized.
According to US Weekly, who obtained the divorce complaint filed in Davidson County, Tennessee, on October 2nd, Morris cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the separation.
The couple recently completed a parenting seminar as required by Davidson County for all divorce cases involving children.
During an interview with Howard Stern last month, the Circles Around This Town singer admitted that she’s not ready to start dating again until after the divorce is finalized:
“I would like this to sort of wrap up. I don’t have the headspace for that yet, but I’m writing so much right now. That’s kind of been my way of dating, is just through song.”
Maren, known for her left-leaning politics, released a three track EP back in September and officially announced she is leaving the country genre, adding she feels it’s “burning itself down.” The 33 year-old singer has also come under attack by critics and folks on the other side of the political aisle, who say it’s hard to leave a genre of music that she never actually made to begin with.
Her husband then posted a lengthy statement on social media defending his soon-to-be ex wife:
“She deserves to be celebrated, not just tolerated. I’m so sick of watching my wife get the shit kicked out of her by the internet.”
“I’m sick of every talking head having some kind of stupid opinion about what she says. It’s the same every time, why are you surprised when she calls out something racist or homophobic, I’m sick of people getting rewarded for it.”
Just a week after that Instagram post, Maren decided she was leaving country music AND her husband, with the divorce filing going public. Looks like she’ll be getting that “fresh start” she so desperately craves rather soon.
