Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you should be well-aware of Morgan Wallen’s second arrest this past Sunday night outside of Chief’s Bar in downtown Nashville.
The “Last Night” singer was booked on 3 counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon/reckless endangerment and 1 count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct after throwing a chair off of the bar rooftop onto the streets of Broadway just a few feet from two MNPD officers.
Morgan is due in court on May 3rd, and as of this very moment, the only statement released by Morgan or his team was from his attorney, Worrick Robinson, early Monday morning, confirming the arrest:
“At 10:53p Sunday evening, Morgan Wallen was arrested in downtown Nashville for reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. He is cooperating fully with authorities.”
While the country star is currently out on bond, he may be faced with more problems in the near future. Just a few months back, Morgan and the TC Restaurant Group announced plans to open “This Bar,” a 30,000 square foot venue adjacent to the Ryman Auditorium, named after Morgan’s 2019 double platinum hit of the same.
But according to Rob Pinson, a partner and alcohol licensing specialist at Adams and Reese, things may get a little tricky for Wallen following Sunday night’s arrest:
“If Morgan is planning to be an owner, they might want to apply soon because having a felony conviction, which he does not currently have, could disqualify him from getting a liquor license.“
Pinson continued, explaining to the NY Post how the restaurant group and Morgan could get around any legal issues if the singer is indeed convinced of any felonies:
“But a lot of these celebrity-branded honky tonk deals are royalty based, and he could get royalties rather than being an owner. Deals like that receive less scrutiny than straight ownership and it likely won’t be an issue for him.”
We’ll see if Eric Church decides to make an appearance at his buddies new spot when “This Bar” finally opens. In the meantime, we’ll just have to wait and see how this plays out for Morgan…
