Last night, fans showed up to see Morgan Wallen in Oxford, Mississippi and unfortunately, the show was cancelled. However, this cancellation happened differently than most. Sure, most times concerts are rescheduled, it’s done last minute, and as much as it sucks for fans who made travel plans or already started driving, there’s nothing artists can typically do.
In this case, HARDY and Ernest had already taken the stage and performed their set, beer and food were already purchased, and Morgan Wallen had already known about his apparent vocal issues all day.
Just before it was his time to take the stage, fans received a message on the screen that read; “Unfortunately, Morgan has lost his voice and is unable to perform tonight. Therefore, tonight’s show has been canceled.”
Now, if I’m sitting in that crowd and had already drank 10 beers and seen two opening acts perform, I’m sitting there scratching my head at why this wasn’t announced earlier. Morgan’s reasoning was this:
After last night’s show I started losing my voice so I spent the day resting up, talking to my doctor and working through my vocal exercises trying to get better.
I really thought I’d be able to take the stage and it kills me to deliver this so close to showtime, but my voice is shot and I am unable to sing.
All tickets will be refunded at point of purchase. I am so sorry, I promise you guys I tried everything I could.
It appears Morgan tried to do the right thing and make the show happen for his fans. Unfortunately, it’s still not a good look. With that said, I’m positive Morgan has seen the backlash and will probably end up coming back to play a free show at some point for y’all in Mississippi and this will all be forgotten.
