Fans can sit back and relax now. It’s coming soon.
As most of you are probably aware by now, the overnight sensation that is Oliver Anthony, blew up two months ago when he released his viral hit, “Rich Men North Of Richmond” through RadioWV’s YouTube channel.
The video for the song has racked up a massive 87 million views on YouTube alone, and Anthony now has almost 6 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
While the song resonated with people of all backgrounds, it specifically struck a chord with conservatives, being featured on the first ever Republican presidential debate on Fox News back in August.
After becoming aware that both the candidates and viewers were played his song, Anthony released a statement video clarifying that he doesn’t belong to either political party:
“It was funny seeing my song in the presidential debate, because it’s like… I wrote that song about those people. So for them to have to sit there and listen to that, that cracks me up.
Fast forward to now, and Oliver has finally revealed that he is working on new music and plans to start recording his debut album in January in of next year.
In a post to almost all of his social media accounts, Oliver shared this update with fans:
“Have been in the woods lately writing some songs and petting some dogs. Will be recording my first official album in January. Going to be recording outdoors, much like the RadioWv session videos you’ve seen popping up on YouTube recently, but with a few other instruments added.”
Just in case you’ve been living under a rock (or want to hear it again for the 800,000 time) here’s Rich Men North Of Richmond:
