After much speculation, it’s actually happening.
If you keep up with NBC’s hit show, The Voice, then you’re probably aware that season 23 is Blake Shelton’s last season as a coach. Blake is currently the only coach left that has been there since season 1 and has won the show with an artist from his team 9 times.
Reba served as a mentor for the second time this season and was actually offered the job, before Blake, back in 2011. With Blake’s departure, the shows success, and Reba in a different place 12 years later, many speculated she’d be Blake’s replacement.
During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Reba was once again asked if she’d consider changing her mind and take over coaching duties, to which she vaguely responded; “Who could fill Blake’s shoes? That’s gonna be tough. He did a great job and kudos to him.“
I mean, looking back, the writing was on the wall. Today, The Voice confirmed she will officially be joining John Legend, Gwen Stefani, and Niall Horan, when next season kicks off, this fall. Considering how popular Blake was on the show, Reba has huge boots to fill. With that said, she’s a legend herself who commands respect everywhere she goes and has a huge heart that I’m sure will benefit the contestants on her team.
“It’s so much fun to be back on The Voice again,” Reba said in a recent interview with Jennifer Hudson. “It’s always a lot of fun to give advice because I study people when they perform, and I want to be touched when they’re singing to me.“
It should be entertaining, that’s for sure.
