Morgan Wallen Earns 12 New RIAA Certifications, “Wasted On You” Goes 7x Platinum

What a year for Morgan Wallen.

As the year-end numbers and chart rankings pour in for 2023, Morgan was arguably the biggest artist in all of music this year.

The 30 year-old superstar finished with the most streamed song, all-genre, on just about every music streaming platform, including on Spotify and Apple Music, with “Last Night.”

Even though he was passed on at the CMA Awards last month, Wallen was the most awarded artist at the Billboard Music Awards with 11, beating out Taylor Swift who came in second with 10.

The trophies that Morgan took home included Top Male Artist, Top 100 Artist, Top Streaming Songs Artist, and Top Billboard 200 Album. With the simultaneous Top 100 Artist and Top 200 Album win, it’s the first time one artist has swept both awards in the same year since Usher won in ’04 with Confessions and his smash hit, Yeah!.

Just last month, Wallen’s 2018 debut album, “If I Know Me,” earned a triple platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America.

In addition, five songs from the same record have also earned new certifications, including his massive hit, “Whiskey Glasses,” which has now sold over 9 million units, just one step away from being certified diamond.

In case you weren’t aware; when an artist receives a gold certification, it means the single or album has sold at least 500,000 units since its release, while a platinum cert means it has sold at least 1 million.

Now, Morgan has earned a dozen more gold/platinum certs from the RIAA, with the biggest one being for “Wasted On You,” off his 2021 release, “Dangerous: The Double Album.“
