Rackin’ ’em up.
As of February 5th, Cody Johnson has officially earned six new gold/platinum certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America.
The new certifications feature songs from Cody’s last three albums, “Ain’t Nothin’ to It” (2019), “Human: The Double Album” (2021) and “Leather” (2023).
In case you weren’t aware; when an artist receives a gold certification, it means the single or album has sold at least 500,000 units since its release, while a platinum cert means it has sold at least 1 million. Here are the six songs that received new certs from the RIAA:
Gold Certs:
- The Painter
- Ain’t Nothin’ to It (single)
Platinum Certs:
- Dear Rodeo
- Human (single)
- On My Way to You (2x)
- ‘Til You Can’t (3x)
When Johnson first released The Painter, (his current single at country radio), he took to his website to share his personal favorite lyric and how it describes his marriage with his wife:
“My favorite lyric in ‘The Painter’ is ‘for every wall I built, she saw a canvas.’ If there’s anything that describes my marriage with my wife, Brandi, it’s that line. “And that’s why we’ve been together for 15 years.”
As far as the album the song is featured on, CoJo had this to say about Leather:
“People appreciate authenticity, whether it’s me being a cowboy and singing something that reminds people of ‘90s country stuff they grew up on, or someone like the Zach Bryans and guys that are more like what probably is considered Americana.”
