Well, there’s one reason to watch.
This morning, the Country Music Association officially announced the second round of performers for this year’s 57th award show and there’s a couple things that country fans may be excited for.
For starters, it was announced that Post Malone will be joining Morgan Wallen and Hardy to perform a medley of old country classics. While these award shows are notoriously known to bring in outside pop/r&b singers to try and and boost their ratings, further showing they’re clueless as to what country fans really want, Post Malone may be an exception to some viewers.
Malone has dabbled in country music before, covering songs such as Sturgill Simpson’s “You Can Have The Crown,” and most notably, Brad Paisley’s “I’m Gonna Miss Her,” which Brad himself even reacted to on social media, admitting he thought the rapper sang it better.
On top of that, the CMA’s also announced they will be honoring the late, Jimmy Buffett, with a tribute performance from 16-time CMA Award winner, Alan Jackson, as well as Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown Band and Mac McAnally.
The “Margaritaville” singer passed away in September after his battle with stomach cancer and the lineup is seen as more than fitting, considering the featured artists have collaborated with Buffett on numerous occasions in the past.
The award show, hosted by Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning, will air live on Wednesday, November 8th.
