Flooding in Texas over the 4th of July weekend was nothing short of devastating for the state of Texas. Mainly affecting central Texas, the floods have already claimed upwards of 135 lives, including 37 children. With an additional 100 people missing, the effort to assist, rebuild and save lives has grown nationwide.
In the country music community, a plethora of artists have already donated to relief funds. This includes the likes of Chris and Morgane Stapleton, who donated $1 million dollars through their Outlaw State of Kind charity fund, Pat Green raising over $1 million at his benefit concert after losing four family members to the flood and George Strait announcing his own concert on Sunday, July 27th.
This morning, it was announced that Moody Center in Austin, Texas, will be hosting a benefit concert of their own on August 17th titled “Band Together Texas,” featuring Miranda Lambert, Parker McCollum, Cody Johnson and Kelly Clarkson as headliners.
In addition to the headliners, legendary Texas artists such as Ronnie Dunn, Randy Rogers Band, Wade Bowen, Ryan Bingham, as well as up-and-comers such as Lukas Nelson and Dylan Gossett, will also perform at the concert.
Also making appearances are legendary Texas actors, Matthew McConaughey and Dennis Quaid, former Houston Astros all-star, Roger Clemens, former Texas Longhorns quarterbacks, Colt McCoy and Vince Young and more.
As stated in the Instagram post, all proceeds from the concert will benefit the Community Foundation of Texas Bill Country and the Central Texas Community Foundation in efforts to provide relief to the many that have been affected throughout the past month.
