Last night, country legend Toby Keith passed away surrounded by family at the age of 62.
Keith is survived by his wife, three children, and four grandchildren. His family released this message to social media early this morning:
In June 2022, Keith announced he had recently been diagnosed with stomach cancer. Soon after his diagnosis, the award-winning musician underwent various forms of chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. Despite this ongoing battle, Keith never let cancer take his spirit.
Fighting through cancer, the Oklahoma native continued his passion for performing, giving spontaneous live performances to his fans at venues across America. Notably, at the 2023 People’s Choice Country Awards, Keith also gave a stunning live performance of his 2018 single, ”Don’t Let the Old Man In.”
Keith will be remembered as an American patriot, a charitable philanthropist, and an inspiration to many. His legacy will undoubtedly carry on through what is left behind of his storied career, marked by 21 albums and 20 number-one singles, as well as his dedicated support for children diagnosed with cancer, active-duty military personnel, and veterans.
