I’m not sure when it happened, but Darius Rucker has slowly become my favorite person on Twitter (and yes, I’m still refusing to call it X).
The 60-year-old country music icon is oddly active on the platform, constantly responding to fans, posting his golf swings, and sharing all of his updates on his favorite sports teams. Earlier this month, he snapped back at a fan who tried to call him out for claiming “Wagon Wheel” as his own song after he reposted a clip of the US Men’s soccer team singing the track at a post-game karaoke celebration, saying: “Put some respect on Old Crow’s name.”
Rucker stood his ground, firing back at the user, “Not the first cover to be a hit and won’t be the last. Do you go to Stapleton’s sight and tell folks Tennessee Whiskey is a cover?”
Now the lead singer of Hootie & the Blowfish is being called out by a Twitter troll for apparently hanging his TV too high after Rucker shared a picture of his living room while watching the Women’s Basketball Indiana Fever Vs Seattle Storm game on Tuesday night, July 28. The user quite literally just responded, “TV too high,” which is such an odd thing to point out in the first place, but that’s the internet for you.
For some reason, Rucker’s response had me genuinely laughing out loud for no reason, but fair warning: I’m easily amused. He hit ’em back with two words: “Thank u.”
Ok fine. It wasn’t that funny. But I laughed, and that’s all that matters. And hey, I did warn you.
All I’m saying is, if Rucker does end up retiring in the next two years, I hope he never leaves behind his Twitter days.
