Budding songstress Ella Langley has been releasing banger after banger throughout 2024, continuing the trend with a brand new single — “you look like you love me,” featuring Riley Green — out today (June 21) on all music streaming services.
“I’m obsessed with this song, I think it’s so fun. I first wrote it with Aaron Ratiere, and then Riley came in and wrote the second verse,” Ella said about the track in a statement to the press. “It’s a cute little love song and hopefully it’ll be someone’s wedding song one day.”
After serving as support for 36 shows on Green’s Ain’t My Last Rodeo Tour, the pair treated attendees to the brand new tune at their final concert on June 1, performing “you look like you love me” for the very first time onstage at Minneapolis Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Ever since then, country connoisseurs have been anxiously awaiting its release, taking to Langley’s Instagram account to express their enthusiasm:
“The amount of times I’ve played this small chunk of the song 😍🙌❤️😍 Cannot wait”
“Been singing it for 2 days”
“Girl, we are ALL ready 💕”
“I’M SO EXCITED”
As traditional as can be, “you look like you love me” feels straight out of a honky tonk. Revolving around “bright acoustic guitar, buoyant piano and a hint of fiddle,” the tune is as twangy as they come — with some spoken word-style lyrics to add a unique touch — sonically drawing similarities to tunes of the ‘60s and ‘70s.
With a lovey-dovey charm that runs throughout the track, the retro yet romantic feel of “you look like you love me” makes it oh-so special, telling a back-and-forth love story from the perspective of both the male and the female. The two POVs come together in the chorus of the tune, as Langley and Green harmonize:
“Excuse me, you look like you love me
You look like you want me, to want you to come on home
Baby, I don’t blame you, for looking me up and down across this room
I’m drunk and I’m ready to leave, and you look like you love me”
“you look like you love me” comes just two weeks after the release of “hungover,” the title track of Langley’s “raw, fun and emotional” debut album to come later this summer. Arriving on August 2, hungover will feature both “you look like you love me” and the title track, as well as other pre-released tunes like “paint the town blue” and “nicotine.” The rest of the track list is as follows:
- “hungover”

- “better be tough”
