Koe Wetzel singing ‘90s country is the crossover we never knew we needed.

Last weekend, the Texas native took the stage at his Fort Worth Riot Bar for a free entry performance in honor of his self-named holiday, Koe Wetzel Day, on February 28. In honor of this momentous 10th anniversary, it was truly a celebration for the ages with performances of some of his hits, guest appearances, and, of course, highlighting the 2016 track off of his sophomore album, Noise Complaint.

During the night, those in attendance were also blessed with a performance of Sammy Kershaw’s 1993 hit, “Queen of My Double Wide Trailer.” Luckily, a generous TikTok account, @melissamahany, graced the internet with the full performance so we can all enjoy this high-energy Koe cover.

This track, written by Dennis Linde, is an absolute certified country classic about a lady that Kershaw finds at “Murphy’s” restaurant, whom he then thrones as royalty of his castle, aka his double-wide trailer. Of course, the song follows Kershaw on his pursuit as she runs off with a mechanic named Earl with the iconic comedic chorus singing, “Sometimes she runs, and I’ve gotta trail her, dang her black heart and her pretty red neck.”

The performance, of course, already has fans begging in the comment section for an officially released cover. It was also a full-circle moment for the chart-topping country star who grew up in a double-wide trailer in Pittsburg, Texas, which can be seen in an actual photograph used as the cover art of his most recent 2024 album, 9 Lives.

The now 33-year-old with multiple RIAA gold-certified hits is gearing up for an insanely packed year ahead with the release of his upcoming album, The Night Champion, and its coinciding world tour. To hold fans over until an official date is announced for the drop of this project, Wetzel released a 6-song mixtape on the night of the anniversary as one final treat, and as of just last night, the These Are Going Nowehere mixtape is available on all streaming platforms.

As for the tour, the “Ragweed” singer will launch this string of 45 stops starting in Australia on May 3 for three dates before taking a short break and heading to Canada on July 8, followed by a long stretch throughout North America. Joined by a stacked lineup including Shane Smith & The Saints, Ole 60, Wyatt Flores, Corey Kent, Wade Bowen, Bayker Blankenship, Kolby Cooper, and Logan Jahnke, their journey on the road will finally wrap up on October 30 in Lubbock, Texas.
