HARDY and Lainey Wilson are already big winners ahead of tonight’s CMA Award show.
This morning, the Country Music Association revealed that “wait in the truck,” written by HARDY, along with Hunter Phelps, Renee Blair and Jordan Schmidt, has won Musical Event Of The Year and Music Video Of The Year.
Not only is the award show still hours away from airing live, but these are HARDY’s first ever CMA Award wins, while Lainey now has a total of four after winning New Artist and Female Vocalist at last year’s CMA’s.
Given that the song and video was released in August of 2022, it may seem weird that the collaboration is still winning, let alone even being nominated. However, it didn’t quite make the cut at last years award show, only being released three months prior.
The song and its unique subject matter was (and still is) extremely popular, winning Collaborative Video Of The Year at the CMT Awards and Music Event Of The Year at the ACM’s earlier in the year.
Both artists will be performing tonight, with HARDY set to take the stage alongside Morgan Wallen and Post Malone for a medley of country classics.
The 57th CMA’s will be hosted by Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning for the second year in a row and will air live tonight on ABC at 8pm ET.
