    Worth the wait.

Fresh off the announcement of his brand new album, Loose Cannon, Jake Owen, drops not one but four new songs in anticipation of its June 23rd release. Hot Truck Beer, Solo Solo, On the Boat Again and Nothing, round out the four brand-new tracks.

Owen took to Instagram on Monday to announce the upcoming album.

The release of these four new songs and Loose Cannon marks a new era for Owen. He notes how his life has changed now that he’s aged and is now a father.

“My narrative has changed throughout the years,. I went from a young guy (who was) never gonna grow up, never gonna slow down to like, growing up and not necessarily slowing down, but just like finding more purpose in the day-to-day. Sometimes I think it’s interesting to incorporate that into my music.”

Hot Truck Beer reflects this thinking the most out of the four tracks released so far. In the song, he reflects on his upbringing and his youth while simultaneously understanding that his youth is behind him in the bridge.

“Time flies and things change. That’s life. Yeah, I’m a long way from… Kool cigarettes and hot truck beer.”

Any country fan will notice the fourth track, On the Boat Again, and note the similarity to Willie Nelson’s iconic song, On the Road Again. Owen intentionally takes the hook of Nelson’s classic and switches things up, singing,

“On the boat again, I just can’t wait to get on the boat again. The life I love is drinking cold beer with my friends. Yeah, I can’t wait to get on the boat again.”

On the Boat Again is an attempt to recreate the summertime magic that Owen captured in his 2011 hit, Barefoot Blue Jean Night.

“One thing I think I’ve missed over the last few years is not giving country radio the songs that they really like. I think they’re waiting for me to give them another summer Jake Owen song that feels good. They’re like, ‘Yes, this is you.’ That’s what this ‘On The Boat Again’ thing is.”

The track is sure to please fans of Owen and anyone who wants a laid-back, fun summer jam to float on a boat to.
