The start of it all.
Reigning ACM Artist Of The Decade, Jason Aldean, officially scored the first No. 1 single of his career on this day 17 years ago with “Why.“
Produced by Michael Knox, the same producer Aldean still uses today, the song is very different than anything you’ll find from the 46 year-old’s catalog in recent years.
Coming off his 2005 self-titled debut album, “Why” was only Jason’s second single at Country radio, following his rockin’ introduction to mainstream radio, “Hicktown.”
Written by John Rich, Rodney Clawson and Vicky McGehee, the song is a mid-tempo love song about a man reflecting on why he treats the woman he loves poorly. Aldean’s vocals absolutely shine on this track, making it one of his best releases, still today.
