Koe knows exactly what his Oklahoman fans like.
Everybody’s favorite 34-year-old “Sweet Dreams” singer took the stage over the weekend in Tulsa, rocking out with the crowd at the BOK Center on his 2026 Night Champion World Tour. With this round of touring about to wrap up at the end of October, he couldn’t stop in Oklahoma without giving a shoutout to the red-dirt state.
During his Friday, October 2 show, Koe admitted he had planned to go with the basic choice, fitting to the city’s name: Don Williams’ 1978 hit “Tulsa Time.” While I’m kicking rocks, we didn’t get to hear his spin on the famous tune; luckily he had something even better in store.
Looking out into the crowd ahead of his surprise cover, he hilariously shared, “We were like, you know, I kind of feel like everybody comes through Tulsa, and they play f*cking ‘Tulsa Time,’ and they’re like, h*ll ya brother, Tulsa Time. You’re probably tired of hearing that sh*t.” Koe continued sharing, “We’re bringing some real boys from Oklahoma out to this motherf*cker tonight.”
In other words, Koe paid tribute to Oklahoma’s very own Cross Canadian Ragweed (and a staple of his musical influences), launching into a cover of their 1999 staple, “Boys From Oklahoma.” And judging by the crowd’s reaction, the surprise rendition was a highly welcome one.
He even shouted out his “Rocky Mountain High” collaborator Corey Kent during the Colorado verse: “they just assume, smoke a joint, that Corey Kent had a roll.” As for the controversial Norman line towards the end of the song, based on one user’s recording of the full performance, Koe opted to omit that portion.
He, of course, also followed the cover-up by playing his very own tribute to the band, his 2019 Harold Saul High single, “Ragweed.” The Texas native returns to the stage this Thursday, October 8, in Chicago, Illinois, before also officially linking back up with fellow Lone Star State staple Parker McCollum for the return of their Naughty or Nice Tour this December.
