Fresh off an ACM Award win for Single of the Year for “Fast Car” back in May, Luke Combs is back with a brand new song, “The Man He Sees in Me.”

Combs first teased the song back on January 14 on Instagram, and it went viral, racking up over 5.7 million views and 259,000 likes. He later shared a studio version of the song on March 14 which also went viral, garnering over 3.9 million views and 236,000 likes. Needless to say, fans were clamoring for an official release of the song.

Combs made their wishes come true and officially announced the song’s release on social media on Monday, later sharing a heartfelt letter he wrote to his sons as well as photos with them and his wife, Nicole.

Written by Combs and Josh Phillips for Combs’ two sons, the song further documents his journey into fatherhood present on tracks such as “Even Though I’m Leaving,” ” Take You With Me” and “Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old.”

The chorus, in particular, is sure to resonate with any new father who’s grappling with the fact that he’s going to constantly face the pressure of being the man that his son views him as.

“I hope he never finds out that I didn’t hang the moon
And I’ve never scared a monster out the closet in his room
Someday between him leaving home and driving on my knee
Maybe I’ll finally be, the man he sees in me”

Combs also released an official music video for the track on his YouTube channel, showing him and the band recording the song live in the studio.

Along with the brand new song and music video, Combs also announced his fifth studio album, “Fathers & Sons” is coming next Friday, June 14th. The album will contain 12 brand new songs including previously-teased tracks such as “Plant a Seed,” “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” and “Huntin’ By Yourself.”
