The wait is finally over.
Ella Langley’s highly anticipated sophomore album, Dandelion, officially dropped today, and it is certainly living up to the hype. Trailing off the success of her chart-topping hit, “Choosin’ Texas,” along with the subsequent singles, including the title track, “Be Her,” and “Loving Life Again,” this project had some big boots to fill.
Luckily, the remaining 14 tracks have all been quickly well-received by fans. With the album only containing one featured song, sat right at the end of the project, track 16 “Butterfly Season” with Miranda Lambert was one many were eager to hear.
Lambert had a heavy hand in this project, namely co-writing its lead single “Choosin’ Texas” as well as playing a part as executive producer and even singing background vocals on “You & Me Time.” There must have been something in the air the day that they wrote their first groundbreaking Billboard Hot 100 number-one track, considering Langley also revealed that they also wrote “Butterfly Season” on the same day.
In the “Choosin’ Texas” music video, the two teased the song with Lambert playing it on stage at the honky tonk for a split second at the start of the video. Then, in the official behind-the-scenes, recently posted to Langley’s YouTube, the 26-year-old rising star told the room of extras, “Right after ‘Choosin’ Texas’ we wrote this song, went to the gas station and Miranda bought us some cigarettes, and then we wrote ‘Butterfly Season’.”
Shout out to the pack of Marlboros that inspired this flouncy, spring-anthem that could certainly be the sister track to “Loving Life Again.” Fitting to the album’s theme of healing and freedom following her debut hungover album, this track exudes the motif of a butterfly’s transformation and the growth found in a new season of life.
Hopefully, this feel-good song finds its way to Langley’s set list for her upcoming coinciding headlining sold-out tour, set to kickstart on May 7 in Toledo, OH. The “Dandelion” singer will also make her first official post-album performance next Friday, April 18, joining Morgan Wallen for a few stops on his 2026 Still The Problem Tour.
