Coming off a huge 2024 that included the release of The Coastal Plain and an opening spot on Post Malone’s F-1 Trillion tour, Muscadine Bloodline is not wasting any time in the new year. Employing none other than Josh Meloy, the duo dropped an early standout with the release of “Ain’t For Sale.”
The duo teased a collaboration back on January 3rd on Instagram with the caption, “Putting out a new song, And sometimes the feature leaves the porchlight on. Any guesses who it is???”
Fans were quick to connect the dots to Meloy given the success of his 2022 single, “Porch Light,” and a day later, Muscadine confirmed his inclusion on the track.
Discussing the song, the duo said, “‘Ain’t for Sale’ is about a battle between temptation and integrity. The song portrays the struggle of a man awake at 3 am, struggling with moral choices, symbolized by the snake and the forbidden fruit. It’s a self-analyzing journey through the night, where the lyrics ask for strength to fight the devil’s temptations, while realizing the importance of his soul over materialistic things.”
To say that they and Meloy capture that brilliantly here would be an understatement. Between Meloy’s gravely vocals, Muscadine’s brooding instrumentals and the inclusion of the interlude, “The High Horse vs. The White Horse,” “Ain’t For Sale” is nothing short of a must-listen.
In addition to the brand-new song, Muscadine dropped a music video for “Ain’t For Sale.” Set in an empty chapel filled with moody lighting, the video is quite simple, but it perfectly captures the brooding nature of the track.
