One of the biggest stories (and songs) of the year…
Just three weeks ago, Virginia native Oliver Anthony, was simply a mere nobody. Other than his close friends and family (and maybe the cashier at his local convenience store) you could’ve asked a million people across the States and his name would’ve meant nothing.
Well, fast forward to now and the man currently owns the No. 1 position on The Hot 100 chart, making history as the first artist to do so without ever appearing on any Billboard chart, prior. He also has over 40 million views on Youtube for the same song, “Rich Men North Of Richmond.”
Probably the weirdest, most random moment thus far for the overnight sensation, is the first Republican presidential debate on Fox News opened the event by playing his song for the candidates and its viewers.
Some conservatives have backed the song’s message, even though Anthony himself has said “both sides serve the same master and that master is not someone of any good.”
Today, Anthony took to social media in a lengthy video to share his thoughts…
“It was funny seeing my song in the presidential debate, because it’s like… I wrote that song about those people. So for them to have to sit there and listen to that, that cracks me up.
It was funny kind of seeing their response to it. That song has nothing to do with Joe Biden, ya know? It’s a lot bigger than Joe Biden. That song was written about the people on that stage…not just them, but definitely them.”
Anthony also went on to talk about how politicized his viral song has become:
“I do hate to see that song being weaponized. I see the right trying to characterize me as one of their own, and I see the left trying to discredit me, I guess in retaliation. That sh*t’s gotta stop”
“It’s aggravating seeing people on conservative news try to identify with me like I’m one of them.”
I. Don't. Support. Either. Side. Politically. Not the left, not the right. Im about supporting people and restoring local communities.

Now, go breath some fresh air and relax. Please? 🙂 I'm not worth obsessing over, I promise. Go spend time with your loved ones.
The ten minute video is pretty real, personal, and interesting. Check it out here:
