Sheryl Crow has entered the chat.
Over the past couple of days, Jason Aldean has been trending in the news cycle over his song and music video for “Try That In A Small Town.”
Critics and social media warriors (mostly those who just hate his music or disagree with his politics) have been calling the Country singer out for promoting “violent, pro gun” and “racist” lyrics.
And as the song has skyrocketed to No. 1 on iTunes, all-genre, it hasn’t stopped more people from commenting on the issue at hand.
Sheryl Crow, known for songs such as “If It Makes You Happy” and her duet with Kid Rock, “Picture,” took to Twitter to share her thoughts, saying that “even people in small towns are sick of violence….you should know that better than anyone having survived a mass shooting.” She ends her tweet with; “This is not American or small town-like. It’s just lame.”
.@Jason_Aldean I’m from a small town. Even people in small towns are sick of violence. There’s nothing small-town or American about promoting violence. You should know that better than anyone having survived a mass shooting.

CMT decided to pull the music video from programming yesterday without further comment but the video on Youtube has gone from 300k to over 1 million views in less than a day. Jason Aldean also released a lengthy statement regarding the allegations. Check it out here.
