A Bluefield, Virginia, native turned North America Country Music Association International Hall of Famer, Stevie Lee Woods, has returned with his latest rendition of Larry Fleet’s “Where I Find God.”
Breaking into the country music scene in the early ’90s, Woods left behind his Appalachian roots for a start in the music city and was met with the grueling demands of making it as an aspiring artist in Nashville. Nonetheless, he made his imprint with a number of charting hits on the Cashbox charts throughout the decade, including “Hey Mr. President,” “It’s Only Money,” and “Is There Anything Left.”
Learning from the best, during his developing years, he toured alongside none other than Brooks & Dunn, Martina McBride, Sammy Kershaw, Aaron Tippin, and even the late legend, Merle Haggard. He’s now transformed his lasting love for music into Branson, Missouri’s, award-winning show, Nashville Roadhouse Live, where he continues to rock the stage at The Pierce Arrow Theater alongside his longtime collaborators, the NRL Band.
As he matures into his steady career, Woods has recently found inspiration in Fleet’s faith-filled 2021 track. Co-written alongside Connie Harrington, the song has become a staple in Fleet’s discography, exemplifying the endless opportunities of feeling God’s presence in everyday life.
Woods and The NRL Band dropped their instrumental-heavy version this past March 14, in hopes to touch listeners with the message’s relatability, with the two-time best of Branson singer noting that it struck a chord with him, “The message in this song was really clear to me. I knew it was time for me to speak up.” Woods also hopes that this newest recording will translate well to his future shows, making for a very touching live performance. “This is something people would feel in the room. They feel connected with the songs in their way.”
