As if the potential drop of a new Cody Johnson album in 2026 wasn’t exciting enough, the “Dirt Cheap” singer just revealed he has some unbelievable collaborations in store.
The CMA Male Vocalist of the Year recently sat down with radio personality Katie Neal for her show, Katie & Company. Neal gave fans something to live for today by posting a snippet of their conversation where she asks Johnson, “Are there any collabs on this album potentially?”
Johnson goes on to reveal that one with country mega star, Luke Combs, has been on his radar and in the works for some time, “I know that me and Luke Combs, we cut one together. We finally got that done.”
He also shares with some energetic passion that he has another collaboration with Brothers Osborne that will be featured. “So that was kind of a last minute deal, I heard this song and I was like man this sounds like John and TJ and they had happened to be reaching out at the same time of like ‘hey when we do our next project would you do this song with us’ and I was like ‘Yeah, absolutely, would you do this with me on my project?’ So it was kind of a trade-off.”
Sneakily, he also adds that there are a few other surprises in store, “There’s a couple of collabs that haven’t happened yet, it’s still just a lot of cell phone conversation.” Adding, “As a matter of fact, I got a call right before I walked in here, and I had to say, ‘Hey, I’m walking into Katie, I’ll holler back at you,’ but that person is in to do the collab so far.”
He promises, “There’s gonna be some cool surprises on here.” Given that Johnson revealed they’re still cutting tracks for what will be his ninth studio album (not including Deluxe Editions, his live album, and, of course, A CoJo’s Christmas), unfortunately, it’s hard to say when we can expect these surefire bangers to be released.
He did, however, give a promising statement in an interview with Shannon Ella from Pure Country 94 at the CMAs in November 2025, saying, “We already have an album in the can, we’ve just got a few, you know, vocals and things like that that we need to put on it.” And at least in the meantime, for Luke Combs’ fans, there’s the growing anticipation as the time for his new album, The Way I Am, quickly approaches on March 20.
We’re also just two days away from the start of Johnson’s headlining, Cody Johnson Live 26 Tour, which kicks off February 6 in Birmingham, Alabama, and continues throughout the summer until its final stop on September 12 in Tacoma, Washington. Joined by a stacked lineup of supporting acts like Clint Black, Randy Houser, Scotty McCreery, Kip Moore, Ian Munsick, Jon Pardi, and more, it’s a great year to be a Cody Johnson fan.
