One helluva song.
On August 6th, 2011, “Tomorrow” by Chris Young went No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.
The song, written by Chris himself, along with Frank Myers and Anthony Smith, was the lead single off of Young’s album, “Neon,” and went on to sell 30,000 digital downloads in it’s first week alone and was also nominated for Single of the Year at the 2012 CMA Awards
In an interview with TOC, Chris said that Myers originally came up with the idea for the song; “He was like, ‘I was thinking about this at the gym,’ and he played us like the first half of the verse.” Young went on to say that all of three of them felt that this was probably one of the best songs that any of them had ever written at the time.
What made this song such a big hit, in my opinion, is not only Young’s amazing vocals, but that it sounded traditional, yet had a big in-your-face, catchy chorus that tugged on the heartstrings, as well.
At this point, it’s probably safe to say that this is Chris’ most well-rounded single at Country radio to date. Watch the video, below.
