After sending the internet into a frenzy Wednesday morning with a brand-new teaser video that contained references to long-awaited unreleased tracks, Tyler Childers has officially announced that his 7th studio album, Snipe Hunter, will be released on Friday, July 25th.
As of now, the only confirmed track on the album is none other than today’s newest release, “Nose on the Grindstone,” which has remained one of Childers’ most popular releases since its appearance on his acoustic OurVinyl Session back in 2017.
With that being said, however, the aforementioned teaser video from Wednesday morning also hinted towards the inclusion of his legendary unreleased tracks, “Oneida” and “Jersey Giant,” a song which has been heavily rumored to finally get an official release given that “Whitehouse Road” singer has recently begun playing the track at his live shows since its debut on April 19th.
As rumored, Rick Rubin will officially produce Snipe Hunter alongside Childers, marking the first collaboration between the two. If you’re unfamiliar with Rubin’s work, he was the driving force behind Johnny Cash’s legendary American Recording series which spanned from the early 90’s to 2000’s.
Rubin has also worked with the likes of The Chicks, The Avett Brothers and Kid Rock to Rage Against the Machine, AC/DC and Slipknot to Ed Sheeran, Adele and Lady Gaga.
In a recent interview, RCA Records’ (the parent company to Childers’ own Hickman Holler Records) Peter Edge had this to say about Rubin’s involvement in Snipe Hunt, “I’m really excited about Tyler Childers’ new album, which is produced by Rick Rubin. He defies expectations, and this new album goes even further. The great thing about Tyler is that he does it the way he wants to do it. He’s playing giant venues, and he’s making the music he wants to make.”
In addition to the album announcement, the Kentucky native released a live video of the aforementioned “Nose On The Grindstone,” and I must say, this might be the best we’ve ever heard Childers.
