At this point, everyone who’s in the know can tell you that Tyler Childers is a living legend. Often referred to as the father of modern day independent country music along with Sturgill Simpson, Childers is, without a doubt, one of the most important artists in the genre today.
With a catalog that ranges from songs about murder, addiction, love, loss and even self-pleasure (shoutout “Ever Lovin’ Hand”), the “All Your’n” singer has a laundry list of tracks covering just about everything. With over a half dozen gold and platinum singles, Childers has an equal amount of quality hits along with some severely underrated deep cuts, none more underrated than “The Harvest.”
Despite the extremely low-quality late 2000’s camera and audio had, there’s no denying that Childers‘ generational talent shines through here on this 15 year old clip of “The Harvest” that predates his debut album.
“The Harvest” would eventually wind up as the eighth track on his debut 2011 album, Bottles and Bibles, alongside hits such as “Coal,” “Hard Times” and the severely underrated “Long Hard Road.”
