Dolly Parton and Lainey Wilson brought the house down last night with a beautiful performance of “I Will Always Love You” at Dolly’s Pet Gala special in Nashville.
The two-hour event aired on CBS and Paramount+, and while the majority of the focus may have been on the dogs, Lainey and Dolly’s duet was the least forgettable moment of the night.
“I Will Always Love You” was written by Dolly and released as a single in 1974. It reached #1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart that year, and then again in 1982 when she re-recorded the hit forThe Best Little Whorehouse in Texas soundtrack.
While Whitney Houston saw MASSIVE success with her iconic rendition, making it the best-selling song of 1992, there would’ve been no Whitney version without the queen. Watch their incredible performance here:
