Morgan Wallen just surprised fans with the Friday treat we didn’t know we needed. Out of nowhere, a new version of his recent single “Just In Case,” titled The Shop Sessions, dropped on YouTube—and it’s a stripped-down gem.
This raw, acoustic rendition features Morgan and his band recording straight from a gritty garage auto shop, giving the song a whole new edge. In an Instagram post, Wallen shared, “Found a badass old auto shop and recording some songs from the new album with my band. The first one, ‘Just In Case (The Shop Sessions),’ is out now on Youtube.”
Now excitingly, that caption definitely hints at more to come. Whether future releases from this series will be new material or reimagined versions of existing tracks is still up in the air—but we’re hoping for both.
Wallen’s no stranger to these kinds of intimate live sessions. Just last year, he dropped a series of stripped-down performances recorded at Abbey Road Studios, including fan favorites like “Sunrise”, “I Deserve a Drink”, “Lies Lies Lies”, and “Graveyard Whistling”. This garage session is shaping up to be another standout moment in that streak of killer live recordings.
The original version of “Just In Case” was released on March 21, alongside another single, “I’m A Little Crazy”, both part of his upcoming album I’m The Problem. It’s refreshing to see Wallen in this laid-back setting, jamming with his band in classic shop attire—effortlessly delivering vocals that hit just as hard as the studio version.
So far, the I’m The Problem era has featured an eclectic mix of visual themes. Fans have noted that the album’s cover art looks like it was pulled from courtroom sketches, while his teaser videos have leaned into a hunting aesthetic. It’ll be interesting to see if this garage-shop vibe is further integrated into the album’s branding in any other way.
It’s a thrilling time to be a Morgan Wallen fan with the album, I’m The Problem dropping in just a few weeks on May 16, and his tour kicking off shortly after on June 20. Check out the full list of tour dates below:
