Riley Green performed at the Enmarket Arena in Savannah, Georgia, this past weekend where he paid tribute to the late, great Toby Keith with a performance of hit debut single (and first-ever #1 hit), “Should’ve Been A Cowboy.”
Joined by tour openers, Tracy Lawrence and Ella Langley, the trio rocked the stage and gave a performance that the crowd was surely into, as country music fans are still mourning the death of the Big Daddy Daddy from earlier this month.
Riley has been covering Cowboy for quite some time, with multiple videos of the Different ‘Round Here singer performing it over the last six years or so available on YouTube and other social media platforms. You can check out a separate video clip from last year, here.
Cowboy was written solely by Toby and released in February of 1993 as the first single of his debut, self-titled album. The track ended up going #1 just four months after its release and also peaked at #93 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it a minor crossover hit.The triple platinum certified hit was also played 3 million times on radio stations, making it the most played country song of the 90’s.
