Legendary.
Last night The Rolling Stones took their headlining 2024 Hackney Diamonds tour to the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida, and the band had a little surprise for concert goers in the Sunshine state.
While Tyler Childers was already scheduled to open for the Stones while also headlining his “Mule Pull” tour in support of his most recent record, “Rustin’ In The Rain,” Mick Jagger and co. brought the “Bottles and Bibles” singer back out to split vocal duties on what was their first live performance of “Dead Flowers” in years.
“Dead flowers” was written and released during a period when the band was flirting with country music, reportedly mostly due to Keith Richards’ friendship with Gram Parsons. Jagger had this to say about the country influence on some of their tunes back in 2003:
“The ‘Country’ songs we recorded later, like “Dead Flowers” on Sticky Fingers….are slightly different (than our earlier ones). The actual music is played completely straight, but it’s me who’s not going legit with the whole thing because I think I’m a blues singer not a country singer. I think it’s more suited to Keith’s voice than mine.”
The Stones’ tour resumes this Friday, June 7th, at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. Check out the clips of “Dead Flowers” from last night’s concert here:
