Last night at his first of two nights at Buckeye Country Superfest in Columbus, Ohio, Zach Bryan once again proved why he is one of the hottest acts in all of music. The setlist included his Grammy-winning hit, “I Remember Everything,” the brand-new track, “Pink Skies” and “Something in the Orange,” which was temporarily derailed by a spider crawling on the “Tourniquet” singer’s shoulder.
However, the closing performance of “Revival” stole the show when bluegrass superstar, Billy Strings, joined the band. As expected, Strings absolutely shredded on his solo, making this performance of “Revival” one for the ages.
The performance didn’t go off without a minor hitch, however. Fresh off a killer solo, Bryan’s bassist, Zephyr Avalon, missed a single note at the beginning of the chorus, prompting the “Heading South” singer to immediately (and quite hilariously I might add) whip his head in Avalon’s direction as if to say “what the f**k?” before shooting him a smile.
Absolutely no hate for Avalon here; mistakes happen even to the best of us. In a world where more and more bands across genres use backtracking for live performances, hearing a missed note is a bit refreshing and shows that even members of the most electric band in country music are, in fact, human after all.
