It’s no secret (or at least it shouldn’t be anyway), that Zach Top is emerging himself as one of the biggest country artists in the genre. While Morgan Wallen and Zach Bryan overwhelmingly dominate streaming numbers, Top is bringing back that traditional 80’s and 90’s sound country music fans clearly still crave, and doing it extremely well I might add.
And when it comes to that traditional sound, Top says it’s all authentic:
“It’s not like a 90’s gimmick thing…this is all I know how to do. It’s not like I made the choice to be the 90’s throwback guy. I grew up listening and learning from the same guys that all those 90’s guys would’ve been influenced by.”

While all the buzz has been about his debut album, “Cold Beer & Country Music,” released back in April, last night Top performed his 2023 single, “Justa Jonesin'” at Marcum Park in Hamilton, Ohio, with a cigarette hangin’ out the side of his mouth during the entire performance (or at least the 15 second clip posted to TikTok from Conner James).
And just like that, say goodbye to pop country and blueberry flavored water vapor, and say hello again to traditional twang and good ol fashioned darts. We MIGHT be back.
