We are so back.
As of today, September 24th, Zach Top has officially scored his first career entry on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with his viral hit, “I Never Lie.”
For those unfamiliar with the Hot 100, the weekly chart ranks the most popular songs in the United States across all genres based on sales, streams and radio airplay.
It’s no secret (or at least it shouldn’t be anyway), that Zach Top is emerging himself as one of the biggest country artists in the genre. While Morgan Wallen and Zach Bryan overwhelmingly dominate streaming numbers, Top is bringing back that traditional 80’s and 90’s sound country music fans clearly still crave, and doing it extremely well I might add.
And when it comes to that traditional sound, the 26 year-old says it’s all authentic:
“It’s not like a 90’s gimmick thing…this is all I know how to do. It’s not like I made the choice to be the 90’s throwback guy. I grew up listening and learning from the same guys that all those 90’s guys would’ve been influenced by.”

“I Never Lie,” known for it’s extremely catchy hook (you know, the “I sleep like a baaaaaabyyyy” line that gets stuck in your head 82x a day), was written by Top, alongside Carson Chamberlain and Tim Nichols, and currently has over 22 million streams on Spotify alone.
Top’s debut single, “Sounds Like the Radio,” is also currently in the top 40 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, proving once again that REAL country music is far from dead.
