An Ohio Granny is still checking off her bucket list at 103 years old…all that’s left is to go rocky-mountain-climbing and ride a bull named Fu Manchu.
The Middletown, Ohio, woman took a leap of faith—quite literally—becoming the oldest person to go skydiving in the state this past Friday. A video posted by her granddaughter, @kaceykeeton1, on TikTok shows the 103-year-old daredevil, Evelyn Franks, being lifted out of her wheelchair into a small airplane.
The video now has a whopping 2.7 million views and counting, with nearly 9000 comments from people hyping up her skydiving adventure, set to the audio of Tim McGraw’s 2004 hit, “Live Like You Were Dying” (because truly, is there more of a fitting song choice?). Surrounded by one of her ten children as she was taken off into the sky and later greeted by dozens of her friends and family, the clip shows the behind-the-scenes footage of Evelyn descending in her parachute, and I’ve never seen someone look so free.
Gasping in awe as she soared through the sky, after her record-breaking experience, Evelyn told Cleveland 19 News, “I don’t know how long I am going to live.” Adding, “I’ve been wanting to do it for quite a while, and I think I am blessed. It’s huge. I hope I am in Heaven, and it’s big like that.”
Reunited with her wheelchair back on the ground, she couldn’t stop shaking her head in awe and grinning ear to ear. Turning 104 in just a few months in October, she shared her newfound wisdom that skydiving is a must-do for everyone who can: “Not everybody gets to do this, so I have to tell them it’s something that you’ll probably want to do someday.” I think I’ll pass on that advice for now, but we’ll check back in when I’m over 100, I guess.
