It appears Post Malone is going ALL in on country music.
At this point, it’s no secret that the genre-bending, grammy award winning artist is a huge country music fan. Over the last few months, he’s performed at two country award shows – covering Joe Diffie at the CMA’s alongside HARDY and Morgan Wallen, and most recently a performance at the ACM’s. He also performed a medley of country classics at Stagecoach – covering Alan Jackson’s “Chattahoochee” with Brad Paisley and bringing out Sara Evans for a performance of her 2004 hit, “Suds in the Bucket.”
And while everyone is familiar with his recent collaboration with Morgan Wallen on “I Had Some Help,” the 28 year-old singer took to social media today to share a teaser of a brand new song with none other than Blake Shelton. While I personally wouldn’t have expected to hear these two on the same song together, I’ve come to learn that nothing is off limits with Post Malone. I mean, one minute he’s covering Tyler Childers and Sturgill Simpson, and the next, he’s collaborating with Morgan.
For what this means for his new album, I believe that Post will be playing with a bunch of different country sounds and subgenres. It’s been well-documented that he likes to explore a multitude of different sounds within albums such as Hollywood’s Bleeding where he delivered traditional rap, pop, alternative and even metal tracks. This up-coming country project seems to be no different. I’d expect Post to deliver some pop, traditional and even bluegrass-inspired songs throughout, but for now, we’ll just have to wait and see.
