Not to jump the gun, but 2026 may very well be the year of Megan Moroney.
With the release of her third studio album, Cloud 9, just a month away, anticipation is heavy as the Georgia-born singer-songwriter prepares to paint the country music scene pink. Ahead of its release, three songs have already been released, including her first drop from last June, “6 Months Later.”
Fittingly, six months later, the upbeat, girly-pop anthem has officially climbed to the number one spot on this week’s published US Country Radio (Mediabase) Chart. It was officially introduced to country radio on July 14, just weeks after its release. Alongside “Tennessee Orange” and “Am I Okay,” this marks Moroney’s third single to reach #1 on the chart.
Moroney took to X to repost the news and send her love back to country radio with a simple message, “THANK YOU COUNTRY RADIO!!!”
The Mediabase Chart tracks the most-played songs across American country radio stations, meaning Moroney’s summertime hit remains the most-heard song on country airwaves this week. While “6 Months Later” leans toward the pop-leaning side of modern country, its chart-topping success comes as no surprise thanks to its catchy lyrics and infectious melody.
The song revolves around the classic idea that ‘what goes around comes back around,’ especially pertaining to relationships (or more specifically, lackluster ex-boyfriends). Chances are, you can expect to hear crowds at the Cloud 9 tour in a few months screaming the bridge’s anthem, “What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger and blonder and hotter.”
Following in the footsteps of the debut single, “Beautiful Things” was released as a country radio single on October 27, 2025. The inspirational track continues to touch the hearts of fans and offers a much more lighthearted, positive message to country radio. With 12 more songs still to be released on February 20th, including two collabs with Ed Sheeran and Kacey Musgraves, it will be interesting to see which other tracks will dominate as favorites.
